Stop blaming yourself for what feels hard. Start trusting yourself to handle life.
ADHD Coaching · Missoula, MT · Adults & parents/caregivers
Whether you're an adult navigating ADHD yourself — or a parent trying to support a child whose brain works differently than the world expects — you don't need to try harder. You need strategies that actually fit. Arrowleaf Coaching offers non-clinical ADHD coaching grounded in real-life strategy, neurodivergent-affirming support, and genuine understanding from someone who gets it firsthand.
You've tried apps, "hacks," and every planner under the sun — but none of it has helped you feel less overwhelmed trying to do life the way you're "supposed" to.
AS AN ADULT WITH ADHD MAYBE YOU…
You crash after everything: You can get a ton done under pressure — then crash hard afterward and wonder why you can't seem to function without a deadline or a crisis pushing you.
Your body fights you on tasks: You try to start something, and your body acts like it's a threat — maybe a tight chest, stomach in knots, racing thoughts taking over your mind — so you stall, distract, or freeze instead.
You need a reason to follow through: Motivation only shows up when there's something external: a deadline, someone waiting, fear of consequences. And you say yes to things before you've even checked in with yourself.
You can't tell what's wrong: You can't tell if you're lazy, burnt out, overwhelmed, or avoidant — and you've started to wonder if there's something fundamentally broken about you.
Rejection hits different: You apologize a lot and constantly expect disapproval. Even one perceived or actual critical comment, tone shift, or comparison can feel like you got the wind knocked out of your lungs and stay with you for days.
AS A PARENT OF AN ADHDer MAYBE YOU…
You love your child deeply — and you're exhausted: Mornings, homework, transitions, meltdowns, forgotten things, the same conversation for the fifteenth time. You're trying your best, and yet, it still doesn't feel like enough.
You're not sure what's ADHD and what's just… them: It's hard to know when to push, when to accommodate, and when you're accidentally making things worse. You wish the line between supporting and enabling were black and white when you are surrounded by grey.
You carry a lot of guilt: You've lost your patience, said the wrong thing, or reacted in a way you're not proud of. You wonder if you're the problem — or if you missed something important along the way.
You might be seeing a reflection of yourself in your child: Maybe this is the first time someone in your family has a name for something you've quietly wondered about for yourself for years.
You feel alone in this: Other parents/caregivers don't seem to be dealing with what you're dealing with. And the advice you find online doesn't account for how complex and nuanced your actual child is.
SHAME IS LOUD. BUT IT'S NOT YOUR TRUTH.
The critical voice in your head is convincing because it sounds so certain — but it's not the most reliable narrator. I know from personal experience how quickly a neuro-spicy brain can spiral with stories about not being good enough, and echoes of the message you've heard your whole life: "just try harder."
For parents/caregivers, that voice often sounds like: "A better parent would handle this." "I'm failing my kid." "Why can't I figure this out?"
In coaching, we separate your worth — as a person, and as a parent — from how well you function on any given day. We stop measuring you against what you "should" be able to do, and start building from where you actually are.
WHAT WE'LL WORK ON
We’ll work on strategies that actually fit your brain, your needs, and your life—not the mask you’ve been wearing for so long.
FOR ADULTS WITH ADHD (ages 16+):
Make sense of how your brain works: Build clear language to describe your experience — so you can stop defaulting to self-blame and start advocating for what you actually need.
Build motivation that isn't fueled by panic: Take steps forward with more agency, instead of waiting for a deadline to force your hand.
Create routines that actually fit you: Develop executive-function supports you'll actually use — and learn to prioritize when everything feels equally important.
Pick up on your body's signals early by addressing your emotions and sensory needs before you reach a crash point, rather than carrying on until they become so severe that you can no longer ignore them.
Practice setting boundaries without feeling guilty: pause and ask yourself, "What do I really want in this situation?" "Is this actually something that falls to me?" and "What am I agreeing to before I take time to check in with myself?"
Stay connected to yourself in hard moments: Feel proud of the life you're building — even when rejection, comparison, or self-doubt is loud.
FOR parents/caregivers OF ADHDers:
Understand what's actually happening in your child's brain: Move from frustration to curiosity — with language and frameworks that help you see behavior differently.
Find strategies that work for your specific child: Not generic parenting advice. Practical approaches tailored to your child's profile, your family's dynamics, and what you've already tried.
Regulate yourself so you can help them regulate: When you're dysregulated, they escalate. Coaching helps you build your own capacity, so you're not running on empty every time things get hard.
End the shame spiral — for both of you: Learn how to respond instead of react, repair after hard moments, and model the self-compassion you want your child to develop.
Figure out when to push and when to accommodate: Build a clearer framework for decisions so you're not second-guessing every choice you make as a parent.
Take care of yourself in this too: Parenting an ADHDer is a lot. You need support, not just strategies. Coaching holds space for both
HOW COACHING WORKS
No rigid curriculum. No one-size-fits-all approach. Here's what working together actually looks like.
We'll start by getting clear on what you want — making sure the goals we set don't just add more stress to your life. We'll talk about what matters to you, what you want more of, and what's been getting in the way. From there, we co-create a plan and keep adjusting it as we learn what works best for you.
01
Get in touch: Schedule a free, 30-minute consultation to talk about where you are, what's getting in the way, and whether we're a good fit—no pressure, no pitch, just us getting to know one another.
03
Putting together your personal toolkit: We will jointly create practical strategies to deal with the actual difficulties you face, such as getting started, prioritization, making decisions, sticking to follow-through, or parenting through tough times. For each of these, we approach it as an experiment—taking small, achievable steps, then carefully reviewing afterward to see what has worked and what still needs adjustment.
02
Understanding your brain (or that of your child): We identify how ADHD actually manifests — your particular patterns, your strengths, the situations in which things tend to go wrong, and the measures that have already been taken.
This means…
True accountability: We meet regularly, in-person in Missoula or online through Zoom, and work on the things that are currently difficult for you. I meet you where you are in the present moment, and we take it session by session. No curriculum to follow. Only the questions that matter: What are you doing? When will it be done? How will you know it is finished? And who is holding you accountable?
Growing confidence and self-trust. Over time, the goal is that you feel more choice and more capability — not just in sessions, but in your actual life. You become your own best support. I'm here when you need me, but the point is that you're building the life you want without needing me to do it.
ABOUT LONI
Hello!
Hi, I'm Loni. (She/Her)
Credentials: 3C Activation® Certified · ADHDer · Parent
I'm a licensed clinical social worker, certified ADHD coach, and someone who navigates ADHD myself. I know what it's like to work twice as hard as everyone else and still feel behind — and I personally understand how hard it can be to navigate a world that's not built for your brain.
Raising a neurodivergent child — or being one yourself — is its own particular mix of exhaustion, love, and confusion. I specialize in supporting adults with ADHD (ages 16+) and parents/caregivers who are struggling and ready to trust themselves, feel more capable, and more empowered to navigate the life they want for themselves and their family. I bring both professional training and real lived experience into this work, while recognizing that every person's—and every family's—experience of neurodivergence is unique.
Arrowleaf Coaching exists because ADHD coaching and therapy are different things, and both matter. The coaching I offer here is non-clinical, forward-focused, and built around your actual life. There is nothing wrong with you or your child. Your brain, and theirs, is wired differently. You both deserve support that honors that.
I work with adults and parents/caregivers in person in Missoula and virtually across the USA.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
The arrowleaf balsamroot is Montana's largest native wildflower — a bright yellow, sun-facing bloom that lights up the hillsides every spring, bringing joy, vitality, and tenacity. What makes it remarkable isn't just what you see above ground. Its taproot runs six to eight feet deep, making it one of the most resilient plants in the western landscape — built to withstand drought, fire, and hard seasons without losing its footing. For centuries, Indigenous peoples across the West relied on every part of this plant for food, medicine, and sustenance — a quiet, enduring strength that runs all the way to the root.
I chose it as the emblem for this work because it reflects what I believe about every person I coach: the strength and resilience were already there. Sometimes you just need the right support to let it surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Nope! Arrowleaf Coaching only provides non-clinical coaching services. Coaching is not therapy and does not constitute a therapeutic relationship. If you or your child are looking for therapy, I offer clinical services through my private psychotherapy practice, L. M. Neilson-Kattell, MSW, PLLC.

I focus on working with adults (ages 16 and older) who are navigating ADHD themselves, and with parents/caregivers of ADHDers who are looking for support in understanding their child and strengthening their own capacity as a parent/caregiver. For clients under 18, a parent or guardian will also review and sign the coaching agreement alongside you.
-
Not at all. Many people come to coaching while they're still exploring whether ADHD is part of the picture — especially if they were missed earlier in life. We can work with lived experience and build strategies that fit while you sort out the labels.
-
ItemThat's exactly what the free consultation is for. Coaching works best as one part of a fuller support system, so if you're navigating something acute or unsure whether this is the right timing, let's talk it through together — I'm glad to help you figure out what kind of support makes the most sense right now, even if that's not coaching with me.
-
No. ADHD coaching is not a clinical service and is not covered by insurance. Sessions are paid out of pocket. I accept payment via card, cash, or check
-
Yes. All coaching sessions are held either in person in Missoula, MT, or virtually via Zoom, so I work with clients anywhere in Montana and beyond.
-
Parent coaching sessions are just for you — focused on your experience, your capacity, and your relationship with your child. If your teen (16+) is interested in their own coaching, that would be a separate coaching relationship with their own sessions.
-
L. M. Neilson-Kattell, MSW, PLLC is my private psychotherapy practice offering talk therapy services. Arrowleaf Coaching LLC is a completely separate, non-clinical business. They each operate independently, with different client relationships, different records, and a clear distinction between whether I am wearing my coaching or therapist hat.

“Neurodivergence” is a broad term people use to describe brains that process and respond differently than what’s considered “typical.” Many people use it to include experiences like ADHD and autism, and some people also use it more broadly to include things like OCD traits or other patterns that shape attention, sensory processing, and nervous system responses. In our work, the focus is less on labeling you and more on making sense of your experience and finding supports that fit your brain.
